We don’t travel the country to find the best hay for your small pets because we don’t have to. We grow our Alfalfa Hay right here on our 4th generation family farm in Fallon, Nevada. We consider the small pets we’re going to feed with it throughout the entire farming process from seed to feed. The Timothy Hay we package and sell is grown by our like-minded friends on their multi-generational farm a few mountain ranges to the east of us in the Diamond Valley. Their hay is sought after worldwide for small pets and large animals alike.
While we do what we can to minimize the dust that comes from our products by controlling the moisture content of the hay when we harvest and package it, it is not completely unavoidable. Our alfalfa hay is all-natural, sustainably-grown hay. When it is time to harvest our crops, our hay is laid out in windrows by a swather where it dries in the sun until it reaches the ideal moisture content for baling. Then our hay baler compresses the hay into flakes, and we do not tear apart the flakes for packaging as the hay keeps better and retains more nutrition and quality the less we handle it. It is not dehydrated. We pride ourselves in using sustainable farming techniques such as using compost as fertilizer, grazing, crop rotations, testing our soils, and using one-pass tillage tools in order to minimize our farm's carbon emissions
Our hay is organically grown, but not organic as we choose to not restrict the tools available to us to preserve our farm's sustainability. The term "organic" is simply a marketing label for crops grown under an arbitrary set of rules and has no bearing on the safety or nutritional content of the products.
